Overhaul update
The job of fitting the right hand connecting rod resumed the following day, 2 December 2021, and completed successfully.
The final 16 thou of about 62 thou being machined off the outer face of the Right hand connecting rod’s big end to bring clearances within specification.
This is the big end of the right hand connecting rod after it was fitted to the loco with the return crank finally secured in place.
The other end (the little end) of the right hand connecting shown fitted inside the cross head - the gudgeon pin nut has yet to be fully tightened and secured in place.
Work now returns to the left hand return crank and big end bush.
